About Our Group
This group was created to address shortages in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 response in Central Pennsylvania, including different types of masks and gowns. Personal protective equipment will be donated to local central PA hospitals and other organizations in need. We will be sterilizing all PPE prior to distribution.
We are using GoFundMe dollars to purchase supplies and materials. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to ship materials at this time.
Use of homemade masks is in compliance with the CDC Strategies for Optimizing the Supply of Facemasks and Strategies for Optimizing the Supply of N95 Respirators during the COVID-19 Response, which states that homemade equipment may be used when other supplies are unavailable. See disclaimer below*.
If you are interested in sewing face masks, feel free to join our volunteer Facebook group.
If you are interested in preparing care packages for those in quarantine, join this Facebook group.

*Disclaimer: We make no claims to the effectiveness of the end product. Nothing homemade will ever compare to medical grade PPE. This is a pattern of last resort. If you have access to the proper PPE use that first, obviously. Research on the efficacy of fabric masks is conflicting. I have found peer reviewed journal articles reporting homemade cotton masks provide measurable filtration of fine particles (Disaster Med Public Health Preparedness. 2013; 7:413-418). I have also read that fabric masks may increase risks of transmission due to moisture buildup and time of virus life on fabric (BMJ Open 2015;5:e006577. doi: 10.1136/bmjopen-2014-006577). Please inform yourself as best you can. (source: Jessica Nandino)
